More Genuine Energy Saving Tips

Here’s the thing, there are so many ways to help save energy and lower your electricity bills that we have decided to post just a few of them here. Wind power, solar power and some of the new magnetic devices are all great energy saving tips. This kind of information is available and you don’t have to look very far to learn more. There are even countries that make use of incentives with local power companies to buy the energy you produce from some of these devices. So you could end up with not just no energy bill but a check from the local power company.

Here are just a few quick energy saving tips:

  • Turn Your Computer Off - Computers use incredible amounts of electricity, even when in hibernation mode so if you're not using your computer, turn it off.
  • Keep an eye out for Leaks and Improper Insulation – A home with poor insulation or leaks in air vents can use larger amounts of electricity. You can have an inspection done to check for thin walls, poorly sealed doors, leaking air vents, or anything that can cause energy loss. The good news is that in some cities, there are public programs for low income families and the elderly that allow and provide free insulation.
  • Plant Trees Carefully – Planting trees around your home can really provide much needed shade in the summer months and vast arrays of sun in the winter months. You should plant deciduous trees so that the leaves are gone in the winter to let winter sun in to help warm your home. Also utilizing awnings each summer to reduce direct sunlight into your home helps greatly.
  • Prewash and Load the Dishwasher - Dishwashers can use enormous amounts of energy. Scrape and pre-rinse your dishes, then use a lower cycle for your dishwasher to save energy.
  • Don’t Be Lazy… Hang Your Clothes to Dry - If possible, avoid using your clothes dryer. Hang clothes lines in your basement, backyard or apartment balcony. Providing it’s not below freezing outside, wet clothes will dry totally in nearly any temperature.

So, here is just a few more energy saving tips one can utilize and take full advantage of.

"I originally knew this type of information was available but had no idea where to find it. You recommended a number of alternative methods and I have invested in three.

Do they work? In a word yes."

There is a little learning curve but hey, it's that way with everything. Now I can say with complete confidences my energy bill (11 and a half months later) are only 7% to 11% of what they were back in 2004. And that's with the hiked prices.
