Now
listen closely because this is an important one: when
any of your electrical appliances are NOT turned off they will
still suck electricity even though it is not in use. You must
turn them of at the main wall socket not just the off button.
So what’s the lesson here? TURN IT OFF at the main wall
socket.
Do not only turn
it on standby as it will still suck electricity and cost you
money. The kind of appliances I am talking about are personal
computers, DVD payers, TV and VCRs, printers, cell phone
chargers or any other charger not in use and other electronic
equipment that eats electricity while not in use.
Now because these
devices still consume up to a monstrous 35% of your home's
electricity just by leaving them on it’s wise to turn them off
when not in use.
Here's
the secret.. To make things much easier you could use
a special little device called a power strip.
A power strip is
simply a device that enables you to plug in a number of
appliances at the same time such as your TV, DVD player, stereo
and other appliances into it and then plug just one cord into
your power point.
The advantage
here is there is simply one switch to turn of at the end of the
day rather than several. If some of the items are not in use
while others in the same power strip are in use simply flip a
switch on the power strip to turn the ones not in use
off.
